A message from Brentwood Diocese' Marriage & Family Life Coordinator

Dear Friends,

Following the report stages this Bill will now reach its third reading in the House of Commons on the 20th and 21st May (this Monday). Click this link to see the details.

This is by no means a ‘done deal’ and there is still time to let your MP know how you feel. There is considerable feeling in both government and within the communities that this Bill is being rushed through with no mandate.

Marriage does matter and I have attached a copy of the leaflet we produced. Please do all you can to ensure that we give everyone the simple facts about this. In short, this proposal gives no additional rights that existing Civil Partnerships don’t already give. There is no great demand from society to push this legislation through with such haste. If we change the definition of marriage now we will change it forever.

Please continue to pray in support of those MP’s and leaders who continue to speak out against this legislation.

With ever best wish,

Phil Butcher. MA,MBA.

Ryan Anderson Stands up For Marriage

Ryan Anderson is co-author of a well-written book called What is Marriage: A Man and a Woman, a Defense.

In this video, he takes on the opposition and does really well I think. Certainly it took a lot of courage for him to go before this hanging judge and allow himself to be treated the way he was on CNN Live.

His attackers were Piers Morgan and Suzie Orman. Suzie Orman is particularly pejorative in her attack demonstrating her own extreme ignorance, in that her sole argument is ad hominem and again we see the reality of liberal fascism--the modern reality that you can say anything as long as it is acceptable to the liberal thought police. If you fall foul of their rules, you're attacked as a bigot. The main thrust of her argument seems to be to keep shouting that Ryan is vastly in the minority. Piers Morgan on the other hand is rude and certainly not objective in his approach. He keeps interrupting and making all kinds of accusations against Ryan.

How can you deny these two people a marriage if they want one? You would deny them on grounds of consanguinity, polygamy, and various other situations. That's what the law does.

I think Ryan Anderson handled himself well, with dignity, integrity and aplomb. When you consider that he was up against two television professionals, he came out pretty well.

The Same Sex Marriage Debate

This is a very good debate between David Robertson and Peter D Williams vs Patrick Harvie MSP and William Rennie MSP in Charlotte Chapel Edinburgh, produced by Seraph Media for Solas CPC. It presents a very comprehensive argument from both sides.

David Robertson demonstrates that the debate about this has been stifled and that it has nothing to do with bigotry and reveals the real agenda behind this purely political move.

So-called 'gay marriage' undermines and destroys Marriage and the nuclear family.
